News: Urgehal

Black Metal band from Norway Urgehal issued the following statement:

“Trondr Nefas left us all in May 2012. For URGEHAL this meant the loss of our great friend and brother in arms. Therefore it is a very special announcement for us remaining members to tell you that the final URGEHAL album is now being recorded.
“We have decided to finish this last album in honor of our dear friend and to mark the end of URGEHAL. Trondr was looking much forward to enter the studio once again and we had already done all demo recordings for the whole album before his death.
“Nothing else remains to be done but to finish what Trondr and we had already started together. We owe this to him and his memory.

“Drums and guitars were recorded earlier this year and in October we entered the studio for the first vocal session of many. The songs will be sung by several close friends of Trondr Nefas and the band. We will reveal those names in due time.”

Review: Shining's latest album "8 ½ - Feberdrömmar I Vaket Tillstånd"

As probably mostly of you already know, Swedish band Shining released a new album in September, through Dark Essence Records. The album is called 8 ½ - Feberdrömmar I Vaket Tillstånd and is a very special one.
8 ½ - Feberdrömmar I Vaket Tillstånd has 6 tracks. Why is it special? Because it has re-issues that are not simply re-issues, but different versions and also because this album has guest appearances of varied vocals such as Famine, Attila Csihar, Pehr Larsson, Gaahl, Maniac and Kvarforth himself.
8 ½ - Feberdrömmar I Vaket Tillstånd is like a retrospective on Shining stuff which kind of brings a new perspective and a new life to the songs. It is really aggressive, dragged, suffered, dark, even obscure.
If you are a fan of Shining, get this masterpiece, it is really inspiring and introspective, makes you think. A lot. Really impressive, very good. Lachryma Christi got speechless after listening to it. It is incredibly strong and passionate. Full of emotions and anger and pain. Honestly, get it now!

Review: Ewigkeit's latest album "Back to Beyond"

Last August, British Black Metal band Ewigkeit released a new album. After waiting 8 years for a new album, we can now feel delighted with this new album called Back to Beyond.
It has 8 tracks and is one of the best albums for 2013 for Lachryma Christi. It is really full, really emotional, goosebumps everywhere really.
It is really melodic, has a throaty and dragged voice but also a clean voice singing amazing beautiful catchy melodies. Really, in two words: very good!
It's not everyday that Lachryma Christi is surprised by amazing stuff like this, it is really good to know that Britain still has good artists like Ewigkeit. For those who don't know, Ewigkeit is a one man band. Well, Mr. Fog should be proud of what he did here, because this is truly amazing.
If you like experimental Black Metal with melodies and pretty stuff, this is for you. No regrets, that's a promise. So go for it, it deserves to be heard, loved and shared.
Artwork cover is great, really "hot" and full of feelings.

Announcement

Being off for a whole month in Summer brought some prejudice to Lachryma Christi, even though it was necessary by then for personal reasons.
Finally today Lachryma Christi managed to catch up with all the e-mails, replying to everyone that was awaiting for a reply for a while now. So you should expect loads of news and reviews to be published in the next few days.
Lachryma Christi apologizes for any inconvenience caused to the bands and labels etc, but everything is under control now.
This is also a good opportunity to let you know that there won't be no playlist next Monday, but after that it will get back to normal, and also the radio broadcast is coming up soon.

Review: Welter in Thy Blood's recent album "Todestrieb"

Doom/ Black Metal band from USA Welter in Thy Blood released this Summer an album called Todestrieb through Dusktone. For those who don't know, Welter in Thy Blood formed in 2006 and their concept is all around misanthropy and death and suicide. Human extinction.
Todestrieb is their third album and is just amazing. Really atmospheric and experimental, a bit hard to get into but once you do, you will love it.
It is just so strong and emotional, making your skin crawl and making all your feelings come to surface.
If you are a fan of Doom or Black Metal or both, this is just perfect.
Really good and experienced musicians, acting as a whole where nothing sounds random. Unexpected sounds and melancholic melodies that will leave you out of words, really really good work.
Lachryma Christi hopes everyone has the chance to listen to this album. It is a bit depressive as of course it should be because it is made to be depressive and angry, but so good! The artwork cover is very interesting too.
Let's hope Welter in Thy Blood keep up the good work and present us with much more good stuff in the future.

Review: Túrin Turambar's latest album "Rzeczpospolita Czartowska"

Sadly only now Lachryma Christi had the chance to listen to the album Rzeczpospolita Czartowska by polish Experimental Black Metal band Túrin Turambar. It was released in the beginning of this year. It was self-released and reached Lachryma Christi inbox through Godz of War Productions.
This is actually a great album if you are in a mood for something different. It is quite dark and heavy and bassy, voice is not very Black Metalish and there a lot of Death Metal influences in the riffs and rhythms, but is a good album. Very different from anything we have been listening to, and it is a shame if it doesn't become known, because it is good.
Musicians are good and very creative, exploring the instruments the best way possible, it is really good and also entertaining if we can put it this way.
There are some calm doomish parts, really really heavy and full.
So if you are looking for something different, not very fast, not very screamy (but throaty anyway), not traditional at all, go for it. These guys deserve it.

Review: Gehenna's upcoming album "Unravel"

So 8 years later Norwegian Black Metal band Gehenna are finally releasing a new album. It will come out in the next few days, October 14th worldwide (October 11th G/A and Norway).
The album is called Unravel and is full of hate. Really aggressive. It has 8 tracks, all of them really strong and angry, even doomish at times, really dragged and furious.
Even though this is a Black Metal album, don't expect any extremely fast rhythms or catchy guitar riffs full of melancholic melodies, that is just not going to happen all the time. Unravel is much more dark and heavy and if you are expecting something really traditional you won't probably understand this album. It is really powerful and full of blackness in every detail of each song.
So basically, this Gehenna were a great acquisition for Indie Recordings and this is a great album from a great band. If you are one of those who have been waiting since 2005, just go for it, it is good and you will certainly like it. Hopefully next time Gehenna won't leave us waiting for such a long time and more works like this will come!
Also important to mention, the artwork cover. It is simply amazing, have a look at it below!
