News: Crest of Darkness debut video from upcoming album on youtube

Norwegian Black Metal band Crest of Darkness are releasing a new album tomorrow, the 25th of November. This will be their 7th full-length album, and will be called Welcome the Dead.

In the meanwhile, the band released a video for the title track, and you can watch it here:

Founder and frontman of the band, Ingar Amlein has this to say about  it:
"We wanted to make a video that offers a glimpse into the dark world of CREST OF DARKNESS.  Perhaps we are just story tellers recounting a fairytale,  and the video can certainly be viewed and enjoyed at that level, but we are also  touching on aspects of Life itself and those eternal questions that people ask themselves about life and death and the meaning of it all.

"We might not have all the answers, and in all honesty we don't even want to pretend that we do, but what we do want is to make people think for themselves, and find their own answers .  Let's face it, we are all Gods.  Each of us builds their own universe, and it just happens that the world of CREST OF DARKNESS is my universe".

Welcome the Dead was recorded at the at MLP Studio by Nils H. Mæhlum, and mastered at the Kvålsonic Lab by Tom Kvålsvoll, and it will be released on My Kingdom Music in both CD and Digital formats, as well as a double LP format which will feature a special bonus track.

Review: Aborym's upcoming album "Shifting.negative"

As mostly of you know, Aborym, from Italy, are not a Black Metal band, but have been involved in Black Metal projects and bands in the past, and is always interesting to see what these musicians are up to.
Lachryma Christi has reviewed some of their stuff before and Shifting.negative is not going to be an exception.
So, there was a big change in the line-up of the band, and at the moment the only member that remains from old members is singer Fabban.
There is a new album coming up, through Agonia Records.
Shifting.negative was reorded by Fabban, as mentioned, Dan V (multi-instrumentalist), RG Narchost (bassist and guitarist), Davide Tiso (guitarist), Stefano Anguilli (keyboardist) and many guest musicians.
The album is very varied, although industrial. Very experimental. You can find loads of influences, such as Nine Inch Nails or even Marilyn Manson, and even more strangely, Mike Patton. Seems strange but in fact it isn't, since it was mixed and mastered by Marc Urselli at Eastside Sound Studios (Lou Reed, John Zorn, Mike Patton), in New York.
If you're looking for catchy melodies, you probably won'd find as many, although there is a lot of musicality.
You will certainly find acoustic bits, as well as very heavy guitar riffs that still remind us of the previous releases, but this one sounds very different. There are more exquisite songs, more of a healthy noise, more of a controlled confusion, it is good. Very good.
So if you are interested in some very heavy and sometimes a bit disturbing industrial music, give it a go. Coming out on the 25th of January, 2017, and will be available as Limite Box CD (which inclues jewelcase CD with two bonus tracks, rounded embroidered patch and wine coaster), Black vinyl (limited to 500 numbered copies), brown vinyl (limited to 100 handnumbered copies), or digital.

Tracklist:
1. Unpleasantness
2. Precarious
3. Decadence in a nutshell
4. 10050 cielo drive
5. Slipping through the cracks
6. You can't handle the truth
7. For a better past
8. Tragedies for sales
9. Going new places
10. Big h

Review: Harrow's "Fragments of a Fallen Star" release now on CD

Harrow just re-released their album Fragments of a Fall Star, previously released in 2013. This album came out first digitally and on tape, and now just came out as a CD. You may find the artwork below.
The album has four tracks, all of them with a high atmospheric touch to them.
First track, Fragments of a Fallen Star, has an intro with acoustic and sort of spiritual sounds, if that makes sense. Soon slowly starts transforming into something different with delicate and spooky voices, which introduce you to the guitar filled strong and passionate melodies of the rest of the track and the album. Voice is quite powerful and the whole thing together takes you to a great journey where music merges with feelings and emotions.
However heavy and fast and proper Black Metalish music, this album is full or surprises, as sometimes there are some quite dark doom passages as well and then again more introspective parts. Very satisfying to listen to and some bits stay in your ear for quite a long time, for the best reasons.
Is a very energetic and vibrating release that everyone should have the pleasure to listen to and to feel.

Ragnarok stream new album "Psychopathology" ahead of release

Blackmetal band from norway Ragnarok are releasing a new album on the 25th of March called Psychopathology and you can already listen to it here:

This will be the first album of Ragnarok that doesn't feature founder Jontho on drums. As he took the place of frontman, the drum kit is taken over by Dauden drummer, Malignant, who joined the band in 2014.

Jontho says: "Your wait will finally come to an end in 2016 when we release "Psychopathology", our eighth full-length album. I can say with absolute certainty that this album will be the best in RAGNAROK's career to date. It is the result of dedication, hard work, and the musical skills of our lineup, and is the next stage in the band's development, both musically and lyrically. "Psychopathology" is about to unleash total chaos upon you as it invites you to dive deeper into the dark recesses of the human mind".

Guitarist Bolverk says: “The new Ragnarok album follows in the footsteps of its predecessor ‘Malediction’. A mix of old Ragnarok and newer inspiration. The title of the album is ‘Psychopathology’, a term which in short means to dissect someone’s mind. A couple of lines of text from the title track are: “I’m inside your mind. I dissect your soul,” and one of the points of the lyrics is that sometimes the cure is worse than the disease. This is by no means a concept album, but most of the lyrics can be associated with madness or deviation in some form or another. To make it very brief: ‘Dominance and Submission’ is about sadomasochism. ‘The Eighth of the Seven Plagues’ and ‘Heretic’ are about religion. ‘Where Dreams go to Die’ is about madness. ‘Lies’ and ‘I Hate’ are pretty self-explanatory. ‘Into the Abyss’ is about the dark path that most of us are on. ‘Infernal Majesty’ is a tribute to our master. ‘Blood’ is about sacrifice. ‘My Creator’ has some very personal lyrics written by Jontho, while the other lyrics are written by (myself) Bolverk”.

Glorior Belli reveal details of new album

Avant-garde blackmetal band from France Glorior Belli are releasing a new album on the 6th of May through Agonia Records. The album will be called Sundown (The Flock That Welcomes), and the band announced that they are returning to their roots.
You can listen to a song of the new album here:

"The production is by far one of the best that Glorior Belli ever had" - comments the band. "Drums & Bass are absolutely devilish and placed under the spotlight. Everything was recorded, mixed and mastered in our own studios, having an absolute control as usual over the sound. The guitar work overall will bring you back to the origins of Glorior Belli".

"Conceptually wise, Sundown (The Flock That Welcomes) will smother you with darkness and light, both stuffed down your throat with the same rage that could be heard on Glorior Belli's ealier records. When the Night is coming down on you, will you find a way through the dark? A record for the very few of us who truly embrace the desire to break from the cosmic prison".

Tracklist:
1. Lies-Strangled Skies
2. World So Spurious

Heathen Deity post rehearsal video

Heathen Deity, blackmetal band from UK are currently working on a new album. There is also a new lineup and a return to the live scene.
For those who don't know, this band has been around since 1998. They released two demos and one EP and took a break in 2004.
Dagon remains in the new lineup as well as the original member Azrael on guitars, and new addition Xjort will become the Heathen Deity's full-time drummer, both in the studio and live.  The band is currently looking at bringing in a rhythm guitar and bassist to play lives, ready for their stage comeback which will take place in October at the Blackwood Gathering, which takes place in the forest on the shores of Lake Windermere in Cumbria.

Dagon explains why he has decided to bring back the band after such a long time:  "I had been busy with day to day things  and with my solo project FROSTWORK, whilst Azrael was busy with ETHEREAL FOREST and his various projects, and although we'd been talking about it for a long time,  we could never find the time to get together to concentrate on HEATHEN DEITY until now" commented Dagon.

"Would you believe that we started working on the new album in 2002 and didn't pick it up again until 2014.  As you can imagine, with the passage of time, we are looking at those songs from a completely different perspective now, and we have re-worked and updated them to reflect where we find ourselves both musically and philosophically at this moment in time.    We also intend to include newly written material, as well as some of the songs we performed live back in the day, songs that never appeared on any of our releases.  We  see these songs as marking the end of one chapter of HEATHEN DEITY, whilst the new material will herald a new beginning".

The album will be mixed and mastered by Jonny Maudling (Kull, ex Bal-Sagoth) at his Waylands Forge Studios in Sheffield.  Maudling and Dagon are long-time collaborators, having previously worked together.

You can watch the video of the band rehearsing here:

You can also watch a video of Heathen Deity performing the Karmageddon cover from the Official Nargaroth Tribute album here:
