Review: Monachopsis Art's upcoming album "An Empty Existence"

Greetings!

Today, Lachryma Christi is reviewing an album of a not yet very known band (but which hopefully will be soon), Monachopsis Art.
Monachopsis Art formed last year, in Finland. It is a trio, and An Empty Existence is their first album, scheduled to come out on the 31st of March.

So what can you expect from An Empty Existence? It is Black Metal, but a very melodic and atmospheric one. Sometimes touching a more Blackened Death Metal style of music.
The album has 9 tracks, being the first one Thee Darkness Gathers... an intro. A very abstract and obscure song that prepares you for what's yet to come on the following ones.
But, the more obvious Black Metal influence, in my opinion, doesn't start before track 3, Silent Torture.

I can't compare Monachopsis Art to anything else. It gives me vibes from what was being done in the late 90s, beginning of 00s, but to be fair, it's not comparable to anything else properly. When you start thinking "this song reminds me of this other band...", a new detail comes up to show you that after all it doesn't. It is definitely different. There are also soft and haunting female voices that bring a original and fresh feel. Songs are catchy, melodic, but also powerful, strong, full, rich. And even on the slower parts, there is so much energy and anger.
It is not the music I listen to on a daily basis (although I've heard this album a few times already, yesterday and today), but it fills a room. Brings a whole atmosphere, a brutal vibration, and it definitely gets you in a very interesting mood. If you're dealing with heavy emotions and you can't let them out, this album might even help you, bringing you a feeling of releasing all of that.

I like it very much, I can't select a favourite track, because it is like a continuous thing, and Flame of Night was perfectly chosen to end it, brining you back to reality after such a beautiful journey.
So, if you're into melodic, dragged, full, majestic and atmospheric Black Metal, go for it!

Black Metal band from Greece Necromantia, are releasing their first official biography, which covers 32 years of music and unknown stories.

The book is called The Serpent and the Pentagram: The Official Chronicles of Necromantia, and it was written by The Magus (Necromantia’s co-founder) and Aris Shock (author of Rites of the Abyss).

It will be available through Pagan Records, in the following versions:

Die hard - 100 hand numbered copies
Limited - 400 copies
Regular book-only

You can pre-order your copy here.

Supported by Metal Hammer Greece, metal.de and Musick Magazine.

The Serpent and the Pentagram… also includes exclusive comments from musicians who collaborated with Necromantia and quotes by other esteemed people of the international extreme metal scene. The book starts with an insightful foreword by Kostas Chronopoulos, chief editor of Metal Hammer Greece.

The Magus of Necromantia said: “Time is ruthless and cruel. But is also healing and forgiving. Necromantia‘s time was not due, but it’s Time’s cousin, Death decided otherwise and moved Baron Blood to another plane a few years ago. Therefore Necromantia wrote their final chapter with the album “To the Depths We Descend”. So the book was completed….and now is available in printed form.

“This is our complete and official biography dating from our school years up to 2021. A full history including rare photo material documenting our journey through the realm of the extreme music, which you and us love, black metal. We always stayed true to our principles and you can read all about it. Not only that but we are offering you a very rare recording of our early days as a gift. Through you, the fans, we shall always be Eternal. Salutes”
