Review: Sacrificial Temple first album "The Return of Cruelty and Medieval Supremacy"

Today, Lachryma Christi brings you a short review of the first album of the band Sacrificial Temple, The Return of Cruelty and Medieval Supremacy, which landed in my Inbox this morning.

Sacrificial Temple are a south American band, more specifically, with members from Ecuador, Venezuela and Argentina. And The Return of Cruelty and Medieval Supremacy is their first album, released in December 2022.

So, what can I tell about this album? It is very raw and thrashy, with the traditional high-pitched dragged and screamed Black Metal vocals. Very old school, with very interesting lyrics about sacrifices, invocations, black ceremonies, the plague, satan, death, everything very appropriate for the style of music they play, and for Black Metal in general.

It is very fluid, although more fast and angry than melodic. Very furious drums and riffs, making everything very dark, obscure and full of energy as well.

There are 8 tracks of very pleasant and fine Black Metal music, the real deal.

The cover is very fitting, with a medieval illustration of a torture scene, which sums up the feel of this very interesting album.

I liked it. Good stuff. My favourite track might be the title track, The Return of Cruelty and Medieval Supremacy.

So if you are in the mood for some traditional, raw, obscure, satanic, cold Black Metal, this is for you.

And you might want to hurry up, because the copies are limited. It is available in CD and tape.
