Review: Hellveto's latest album "Damnaretis"

Hellveto, Orchestral Pagan Black Metal one man band from Polland, has been proving us how dinamic and imaginative a band can be. Not many bands can release so many albums in only ten years! Their latest one was released in September 2012 and its called Damnaretis
Artwork represents a skull within which you can see the woods in a very gelid image. Very pretty and romantic.
The album contains 10 tracks all following the same line of composition.
Every song is very strong, full, warm, there are no empty spaces here, everything is filled up to the top.
Almost all the songs have a very interesting orchestration at the beginning, introducing us to what is the core of Hellveto: The emotional melody, sometimes filled with growling voice, sometimes filled with clean transparent voices, accompanied by the potent guitar riffs and the always crescent atmosphere and rhythm and the folk influence. Very symphonic, this album really makes a perfect connection and exotic mixture between the folk and pagan music and sounds with the traditional Black Metal. All the songs seem to be linked to each other as a whole. The medieval sounds are there as expected, as well as the mystic sounds supporting everything else.
Doesn't matter how many albums Hellveto already released, that doesn't make the band  more trivial. Damnaretis is truly enchanting, just like a battle soundtrack.
There's not much more to say about it really. If you are looking for something different, something more organic and potent with a little bit of chaos in between, give a listen to Damnaretis

Review: Furia's latest album "Marzannie, Krolowej Polski"

Polish Black Metal band Furia released in March 2012 their third album through Pagan Records called Marzannie, Krolowej Polski. For those who haven't heard this album yet, here is a short description.
The artwork is very icy and grey, a bit ghostly with the snow and the moon, some creepy figure... Well, take a look at the picture below and you will know what we are talking about here!
Well, this is quite experimental, quite different from the traditional and from the trendy Black Metal albums and bands we have been used to. Very groovy, very unconventional, very melodic, powerful and unexpected.
Yes, there are growls and suffered voices and moaning, but also a very assured singer who knows for sure what is the perfect time for the growl and for the moaning and for the suffered throaty voice. Please, don't mistake the unexpected with the confused, because there is nothing or no one confused in here! These masters know very well what they are doing. So if besides the normal Black Metal stuff you are also ready for some atmosphere (not the obscure one, but the ugly one, in a very good way), melody, broken passages, acoustic riffs, repetitive interludes, slow doomish beats, clean voices, a very prominent bass, heaviness, then this is what you should look for.
It's so full, so engaging, so majestic and marvelous, so sinister and melancholic, making words meaningless. Really impressive, and one of the 10 best Black Metal albums in 2012 for Lachryma Christi.
Definitely Furia is a very different band and this album is just another masterpiece that will not leave you disappointed, if this is your kind of thing. If not, it's always worth a try, who knows if it doesn't become your kind of thing? Nowadays we are bombed by so many music and bands that it's hard to find something that really feels like fresh air and like something that makes a very good point. Lachryma Christi has been pleasantly surprised with some albums that came out this year and Marzannie, Krolowej Polski is undoubtfully one of the best.
