Review: Dishonour's upcoming debut EP "Erasing the Rats"

Portuguese Blackened Death Metal band Dishonour are releasing their debut EP called Erasing the Rats, on the 26th of May 2023, through Theogonia Records.

With Dishonour, it is what it is. A perfect blend of Black and Death Metal.
The EP has 4 tracks, all of them full of fury and anger. Incredibly fast. It is impressive.

However, there is more than just fast drums and obscure riffs. Dishonour play with a lot of technique, typical of most Death Metal music, which in this case, is perfectly matched by the Black Metal influence.
The voice is quite grave and stable, with very deep growls (don't expect high-pitched voice), which complements the whole work perfectly.

You can tell the music is a lot more within the realm of Death Metal, but there is a surprising and healthy dose of elements that really fit, bringing a blast of fresh air to this style of "mixed" types of metal music. The guitar solos are a very good example of how different and interesting Dishonour are, in what comes to a fusion with Black Metal. Not necessarily catchy solos, but solos played with expertise and technical skills.

Erasing the Rats is very good. Very sober and stable. Full of power and strength. At the same time, their style of music is exactly that: their style. If you hear them elsewhere, you will recognise immediately their sound as their own sound.

Good stuff.
