Review to Chaosphere Fest, 7th September @ RCA Club - Lisbon

On the 7th of September Lachryma Christi went to Chaosphere Fest, which was also the celebration of the 20th anniversary of Chaosphere Recordings,
There were 4 bands playing: Scum Liquor, Theriomorphic, Decayed and Filii Nigrantium Infernalium.
I haven't heard of Scum Liquor before, and haven't seen the other three bands live since something like early 2000's, although I have always followed their work.
For those who don't know, these "other three bands" are some of the oldest underground bands in Portugal. They were like pioneers on the Portuguese underground metal music, being around since the 90's. So this show was looking like it would be a great one. And it was!
Starting from the beginning, Scum Liquor. Besides being a more recent band, they were just as good. With a sort of death metal with evident punk influences, they brought us a very interesting old school music. They also have presence, power and their music has actually very good quality, and was good to see that there are bands, nowadays, bringing up this kind of music again. They never seemed to get tired, and it was a very energetic and lively show.
Not what is usually featured in Lachryma Christi, still, it was very good.

Then it was the turn of Theriomorphic. Theriomorphic play some death metal as well, but is a peculiar one, as they manage to mix the heaviness with melody, making it all very interestingly linked together.
It was also a very dynamic show, with some diferent lineup from before, although the frontman is still the same, and it wouldn't be Theriomorphic otherwise.
Brought back the old days. The last song was played without bass and still strong and heavy enough. was good to hear the hits as well.

Then Decayed came to stage. They played a shorter set than the other bands, or so it seemed, and halfway through they took the chance to thank the drummer for being there, making their gig possible to happen on that specific occasion, since he isn't their current drummer.
They also have different members apart from frontman and mastermind, and you could notice that the singer/bassist was also the guitarist of Scum Liquor.
It was also like going back to the old days. There were hits and also new stuff. If you don't know, let me tell you they had released their latest album The Oath of Heathen Blood one day before the show. I have heard it a million times already and is amazing (a review should come up soon).
Decayed play the proper Lusitanian Black Metal. There are not many words to add to that. It was brilliant.

And to close the night, Filii Nigrantium Infernalium. They are different. In style, in music, in everything. They also sing a lot in Portuguese.
I am from the time when the singer had no hair, now he has long hair, which makes the whole thing look different. He has a screamed dragged voice, different from the usual Black Metal singers voice. There were also different members in the band. They had a upside down cross on the microphone stand. They had a statue of a baby, or what the hell that was, that is usually going around in RCA, on other bands shows as well. They had a book that looked like a Bible, but can't confirm if it was.
There were some red things on their clothes, and accessories, like one of the spiked collars the singer was wearing.
Was good, was entertaining, there were lots of fun jokes between songs, and also, they had the fantastic idea of asking the light technicians to stop the strobe lights, to avoid that someone could have a health problem there. I have never seen a musician worried or at least doing this request.
Lachryma Christi didn't stay until the end, for professional reasons.

It was definitely a good night.
