Review to Lords of Chaos (film)

So, Lords of Chaos.

Lachryma Christi had to watch this.

If I liked it? I actually liked it. It is a beautiful piece of entertainment. For those who know the story.
For those who do not know the story (in fact, I think almost none of us know it well, since most of us were not there), the film makes it look like we (black metal listeners etc) are all a bunch of idiots. Does it bother me? No. It's just a film.

But I understand the fuss around it. No one really wants to see Black Metal banalised by Hollywood. However, I still think that if anyone has to feel annoyed or embarrassed, those should be the people that were directly involved with those situations shown  in the film, and who were portraied in it. It's their right. They're entitled to not like the idea of the film being made even.

I also think that if it was not for Rory Culkin, there was not a single actor that could do their job properly. The acting is all so bad.

I've seen many people criticising the actors, not because they acted badly, but because they didn't show the truth. But we have to remember that they were told what to do. You would be surprised if you watched some interviews with Rory Culkin. The guy made an effort, accordingly to the information he had. Ok, he said Euronymous was a sweetheart, which apparently people don't agree with. I'm not giving my opinion on this, after all I never met him.

Could they have made Varg less geek? They could, but I do not think anyone related to the movie would want to look like they were on his side (mind you, I'm not taking any side here, I'm just making an observation). And even if they wanted to, I do not think the actor could do better than he did, his acting is really poor. And every time he laughed I just wanted to run away, so ridiculous and forced.

Most interesting bit of the movie for me: the "rehearsal" of Funeral Fog, with Atilla in the vocals. Such a shame that Atilla appeared just for a very short time and Maniac didn't show at all. Big fail in my opinion.

The gore parts impressed me, I confess. I see a lot of "horror" movies, but maybe because those situations actually happened, it impressed me more than usual. But it would not make sense otherwise.
However, I think those parts didn't have to be that long and that detailed. If we think about it, they were too young when all that stuff happened, they had families, and their families are still around. Certainly it will be horrifying for their families to watch that. They were kids, they were their kids.

Would I suggest that people watch it? Of course. Even if it is so each of you can have your own opinion about it.

There's a lot of people (I'm talking of random people, not people that were involved with that stuff at the time it happened) saying they're not even watching it because it is shit. So how can they know it's shit if they don't watch?

Anyway, we all have our opinions and sides and whatever. And just for the fact that this film has been so debated online (with good and bad opinions), that's already a sign it's doing its job.
