Melodic Black Metal band Imperial Demonic from Northern Ireland are releasing their debut album Beneath the Crimson Eclipse on the 7th of April through Black Lion Records.
This is quite a good album, very influenced by what was being made in early 2000s.
It is melodic but not as melodic as some. I would remove the "melodic" from their definition, but that's me. Yes, there are the catchy riffs that stay in your head for the rest of the day (and I'm not criticizing, I say it in a good way), and there are some more slow parts in every song, as it is normal, and that is Black Metal!
There is a lot of aggressiveness in Beneath the Crimson Eclipse. Blast beats are constant, the songs are full of rage and fury, which together with the more melodic bits, translates into a very heavy and powerful Black Metal. The vocals are very intense and heated, and everything makes sense together. There is nothing out of place in this album.
There are 5 tracks in Beneath the Crimson Eclipse, and the first one, The Furnace, might be my favourite. It is so aggressive, deep, strong, and furious. It is a perfect way of starting the album. And I promise the feeling remains all the way through the 5 tracks. This is not an album to listen one song today and another one another day. It is an album that you listen in one go, for better enjoyment, and of course, for some adrenaline rush.
Beneath the Crimson Eclipse has consistency, toughness and a lot of energy. It is quite a fiery album. Very pleasant, very stable, very well done in fact.
For those who don't know, Imperial Demonic started as a solo project. The drummer Camer on Åhslund-Glass wrote the whole album, but the band is now composed of five members. It would be great to see them live, in fact.
For now, let's just listen to Beneath the Crimson Eclipse over and over again, because it is too good. And it feels like it is actually too short!
